Nourish The Quiet Wild: Sarah Comber and Kristy Drake
Visit the Artists, Thurs-Sat 11am-6pm in November
Nourish The Quiet Wild is a photographic exploration of womanhood, resilience, and the soft rebellion of rediscovery through creating space for nourishing moments. Body, soul, mind — as women and artists, we not only crave creativity but need it as a fundamental pillar of being. Whether finding stillness alone in a vast landscape, pausing to notice the determined wildflower growing through cracked concrete, or slowing down in the kitchen to make something delicious for no other purpose than our own joy, capturing these moments — these feelings — is as necessary as breathing.
As commercial and lifestyle photographers, Sarah and Kristy’s photographic journeys have led them to connect with families, couples and business owners. Telling stories and capturing precious moments for others. As artists, their work is a deepening of self-expression — seeking beauty amidst seemingly mundane moments, and serving the inner call to chase their wild. To be more undone, untamed, and unafraid.
Kristy’s exhibition, The Quiet Wild, is a body of work that traces the emotional terrain of becoming and those quiet, tender, and transformative seasons of a woman's life. Her floral still life practice is a poetic exploration of beauty in impermanence. These still life’s speak in texture and colour through grief, growth, tenderness, and the inner seasons we bloom through. Her landscapes are an emotional echo. Vast fields, soft skies, and empty streets become mirrors for solitude, surrender, and inner wildness.
Sarah’s exhibition, Nourish, is a reclamation of joy. Of nurturing curiosity, indulgence and play through images taken when her soul was alight with wanderlust, while her heart found stillness during quiet moments at home, and while she created gleefully delicious recipes. Nourish shares the story of healing after heartbreak, of remembering self after motherhood, and of taking the time to make something beautiful even — and especially — when the endeavor serves no other purpose than to feel a little bit of hope.
